Every 50 years or so, a new sport is
created by like minded persons who crave a new way to compete.
1823: Association Football (Soccer)
1873: Tennis
1900: Baseball
1940: American Football
2009: DIRTY POOL!!
Dirty Pool is based on a sport played in an Elementary School in Houston
Texas. In elementary school, picking up the soccer ball and running with it
makes a lot of sense. The lack of rules, and the rush of doing what comes
naturally is what was appealing about this game.
Dirty Pool is like:
Soccer
with legal handballs.
American Football
without stoppage at every play, a ton of rules to remember or time
restrictions.
American Football
and Rugby
without the risk of massive injury from take down tackling.
Basketball
with "Reaching In" encouraged, and similar ball passing.
Olympic Team
Handball without a restriction of movement.
Rugby
without restrictions on ball passing and no dangerous scrums.
Baseball's
concept of "innings" and no play clock.
Lacrosse
without sticks.
So - basically Dirty Pool takes the best of every great sport and creates a
sport where human nature is foremost, and rules and timed interference is
eliminated.
A Founders Council is forming for a club of this new sport in Alexandria,
VA. People from all over DC, Fairfax, Alexandria, Arlington, and Southern
Maryland are welcome. We will decide on dues, rules of the game, as we
experiment with the draft rules.
